Canada Culture and Best of All
When I came to Canada I knew very little about its culture and people.
It was eye opening experience. Back in school you learn some geography
and some names and that was it.
However, as time pass by, you know more about its culture, people and
best of all its friendliness to new comers. According to latest study
of the most diversified cities in the world the Toronto ON of Canada
ranked 2nd after Miami, FL, US.
Currently the total population of Canada is just over 30 million people
which is 10 time more than total Mongolian population or 10 times less
than total US population.
Canada People
People in Canada generally very tolerant. (except when you drive
around) City and and Province of Ontario have very good multi-cultural
programs that teaches us to learn about other culture and way of
living.
If you came from place like Mongolia where 99% of total population is
Mongolian, then you need to learn fast to be the minority. In Canada
everyone is Minority especially if you living in Toronto, ON area.
You will meet with people from all around the world and have to learn
to accept others as they are. (vise versa if you want them to accept
you for what you are)
Education in
Canada
Canada education system is one of the best in the world. Almost every
one is educated in high school, college or university level. Colleges and Universities in Ontario considered one of the best. Many students come to Ontario-GTA (Greater Toronto Area) to study ESL, skilled trade, and earn designation.
Canada accepts about 250,000 skilled workers each year. The work force
is highly educated and often times over qualified for their position.
Many highly educated new comers start life from ground zero.
New Comers have education and skills but lacks a social connection.
Social connection takes time to develop. You can not take
short cut especially when you want to make new friends and start new
life from scratch.
As you started to know people and developed a sense of your identity,
you will see that almost all the successful people in Canada are either
first or second generation of immigrants. They too went through the
same process like you.
Government of Canada spends a lot of resource on Continue Education.
You can take classes and earn your degree while you working. It is also
must do, if you want to work in your chosen field of study.
Women in
Canada
Women in Canada is equally treated. Women's right is sometimes halted
under the name of certain "cultural and traditional" discrimination.
For example: In Mongolian culture and tradition women expected not to
talk back or express their opinion strongly. (or they will be
considered crazy, or disrespectful, or have no manner)
Or in some middle eastern and Indian culture that women have to wear
certain clothing and to be married in some arranged marriage tradition.
In any event in Canada these "culture and traditions" are valid only,
if women allowed it to be. Women here protected by law from any
discrimination, domestic violence, rape and sexual assaults.
Jobs in Canada
When the world economy is in such a shaky mood the current job market
in Canada looks also gloomy. However, its all relevant to what you are
looking at. Some professions like doctors, nurses, farmers, teachers,
police officers have always been in demand and it will always be in
demand no matter what the economy is.
Recycling and Reusing in Canada
In my experience Canada
people generally very friendly and concerned about well being of whole
world. Most Canadian tend to preserve natural life, and recycle.
In the beginning it seems very hard to
adjust; You never really thought that you as an individual can
make
difference in terms of preserving nature or recycling your garbages or
doing something good... But
after you hear everyone and see everyone doing it, it is quite easy to
do.
Travel
and Life in Canada
Everyone has different
experience in life. To me, my province and my city Toronto is the best
city to live and work in the world. You can see the beautiful
parks all over the cities, clean air, fresh water, mini zoo, mini
island with no cars, beaches, small stores with its unique items, golf
courses in the city, weekend festivals, free concerts, CN
Tower...
However, any place in the world has
its flip side and it is all relative to what you comparing to. Then
again you can draw your own conclusion just by looking at the
crime rate in
Toronto, Ontario (84 homicides in 2007) vs. crime rate in Ulaanbaatar,
Mongolia (4000 homicides in 2007) or Iraq war casualty (over 4400
solders died in 2008).
